The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Kollangana Unit, in collaboration with the ICYM Kasaragod Deanery, jointly organized Bible Day titled “BIBLIA – The Light of the World” at St Thomas the apostle church, Kollangana.
The event witnessed the participation of around 50 people. The program focused on deepening the understanding of the Holy Bible through various engaging sessions and activities. Participants enriched their knowledge of the Scriptures and actively took part in the day’s spiritual and interactive events.
The Bible Day commenced with a soulful prayer song sung by the ICYM Kollangana Unit, followed by the reading of a passage from the Holy Bible. A general welcome was then delivered by Ms. Ancila D’Souza, President of the Kollangana Unit. The guests on the dais included Rev. Fr. Anil, Mr. Nihan Sequeira, Kasaragod Varado Representative and Vice President of Mangalore Central Council; Mr. Melwyn D’Souza & Ms. Neema D’Silva, President & Secretary of ICYM Kasaragod Deanery along with Ms. Ancila D’Souza and Mr. Sunil D’Souza, President and Secretary of the Kollangana Unit respectively. The event was inaugurated by lighting the lamp, symbolizing the day’s theme “Light of the World,” by the dignitaries on the dais. The entire program was compered by Ms. Ancila D’Souza, President of the Kollangana Unit.
The highlight of the day was the Knowledge Clash, a Bible quiz competition between five parishes of the Kasaragod Deanery: Kayyar, Narampady, Ukkinadka, Miyapadav, and Kollangana. The quiz consisted of six diverse and engaging rounds and lasted for one and a half hours. It was a tough and competitive battle of biblical knowledge right until the final round. In the end, Kayyar emerged as the winners, while Miyapadav secured the runners-up position.
Soon after the quiz, the concluding ceremony was held. Present on the occasion were Rev. Fr. Rethesh Rodrigues, Director of the Kollangana Unit; Sr. Therisan, Superior of Bethany Convent, Kollangana; Rev. Fr. Anil; and Mr. Nihan Sequeira, Kasaragod Deanery Representative and Vice President of the Central Council; Mr. Melwyn D’Souza & Ms. Neema D’Silva, President & Secretary of ICYM Kasaragod Deanery along with Ms. Ancila D’Souza and Mr. Sunil D’Souza, President and Secretary of the Kollangana Unit respectively. The directors and Rev. Fathers shared heartfelt words on the significance of Bible Day.
The ICYM Kollangana Unit distributed tokens of appreciation to all participants, while the ICYM Kasaragod Deanery presented a token of appreciation to the Kollangana Unit for successfully organizing the event. On this special day, CKYM Kayyar Unit emerged as the winners and ICYM Miyapadav Unit were the runners-up. Trophies were presented to both teams in recognition of their achievement.
Ms. Ancila D’Souza, President of the Kollangana Unit, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of Bible Day. The concluding ceremony was emceed by Ms. Glencia. The event concluded with a fellowship lunch prepared for all participants and supporters, bringing the meaningful celebration of Bible Day to a joyful close.
