The ICYM Vorkady Unit celebrated the Feast of the Assumption of Mother Mary and India’s 79th Independence Day on August 15, 2025, with great enthusiasm.

Dual Celebrations:
The unit successfully merged two significant events—the Feast of the Assumption of Mother Mary and Independence Day—showcasing their commitment to faith and patriotism.

Liturgy and Choir Participation:
ICYM Vorkady members actively participated in the liturgy and choir, contributing to the ceremony’s solemnity and joy.

Flag Hoisting Ceremony:
Mr. Prajwal Gladson D’Souza, the unit president, led the flag-hoisting ceremony in front of the church, symbolizing national pride and unity.

Leadership Roles:
Ms. Sonal Veigas, the unit treasurer, emceed the event, welcomed the gathering, and delivered the vote of thanks, demonstrating her leadership skills.
As the ICYM director, Fr. Basil Vas addressed the gathering, providing guidance, inspiration, motivation, and love for the nation to the parishioners.

A total of 17 ICYM Vorkady members and nearly 400 parishioners attended the event, highlighting the strong community presence.

The event began with a Holy Mass, followed by the flag-hoisting ceremony, showcasing the unit’s dedication to both faith and national pride.
