ICYM Vorkady unit successfully organized Onakireetam 2025, an inter-ward traditional ramp walk competition, on September 14th from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Vorkady Basement Hall. A total of 60 participants from various wards participated in the event, showcasing their talent and cultural heritage.

The event commenced with a prayer song rendered by ICYM members, setting a solemn tone for the competition. Mr. Prinson Monteiro, Joint Secretary of ICYM Vorkady, took on the role of emcee, ensuring a smooth flow of the program. Ms. Ashwitha Veigas, Vice President of ICYM Vorkady, extended a warm welcome to the gathering.

 

The inaugural ceremony featured the traditional coconut-cutting ritual, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of Kerala.

Adding to the festive spirit, ICYM Vorkady members showcased a vibrant Onam flashmob dance, energizing the audience and setting the tone for the competition.

 

The ramp walk competition saw participants showcasing their skills and confidence on the stage. The judges for the event were Ms. Reema Dsouza Manjeshwar and Rev. Fr. Santhosh D Souza, Assistant director ICYM Vorkady. Their expertise and feedback added value to the competition.

 

After the competition, Dr. Steevan, ICYM Animator, announced the winners. The prizes were awarded as follows:

First Place:Vorkady II Ward

Second Place: Pavoor Ward

Third Place: Borkala Ward

 

The winners were felicitated with trophies, and their achievements were celebrated by the participants and organizers.
