On 9th November 2025, the ICYM Miyapadavu Unit, in collaboration with Mandd Sobhann, organised a Gumta training session for the parishioners of Miyapadavu Parish at St. Joseph Hall. The session commenced at 10:00 a.m.
The training aimed to promote and preserve traditional Konkani folk music by introducing parishioners to the art of playing the Gumta. Trainers from Mandd Sobhann guided the participants through basic beats, rhythm patterns, and the traditional style associated with the instrument. Their expertise helped the attendees gain a deeper understanding of this cherished cultural practice.
Around 30 members actively participated in the programme, creating a lively and engaging learning environment. The session proved to be an enriching experience, fostering cultural appreciation and encouraging the continuation of Konkani musical heritage within the parish community.
