Miyapadav : The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Kasaragod Vicariate, in collaboration with the ICYM Miyapadav Unit, The Government General Hospital, Kasaragod and Red Drop Mangalore, successfully organized a Blood Donation Camp on Sunday, 5th October, from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Fatima English Medium School, Miyapadav.
The event commenced at 9:30 AM and was hosted by Ms Shaineetha D’Souza, Lady Vice President of the ICYM Miyapadav Unit. The program began with a prayer led by the members of the unit, invoking blessings for the success of the noble cause.
Following the prayer, the host warmly welcomed the dignitaries on the dais Rev. Fr Edwin Vincent Corea, Director of the ICYM Miyapadav Unit and President of the event; Dr Sowmya, Blood Bank In-charge and Guest of the Camp; Mr Pradeep D’Souza, Parish Pastoral Council Vice President; the Unit Animators, Mr Vinod D’Souza and Ms Sylvia Santhanaz; Mr Ronald Chethan, ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate President; Lanson Dsouza, Vicariate Secretary; Mr Melwin D’Souza, ICYM Miyapadav Unit President; and Ms Prajwitha D’Souza Secretary. Ms Shaineetha extended a warm welcome to all the enthusiastic donors who came forward to contribute to this life-saving cause.


Thereafter, Rev. Fr Edwin Vincent Corea delivered a brief yet inspiring address, highlighting the importance and goodness of blood donation. He encouraged everyone to continue supporting such humanitarian initiatives that bring hope and healing to those in need.
A token of gratitude was also presented to the Government General Hospital, Kasaragod, in appreciation of their valuable support and collaboration in making the camp a success. Another token of love was presented to the ICYM Miyapadav Unit from the ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate for hosting the blood donation camp with great enthusiasm and dedication.
Rev. Fr Edwin Vincent Corea inaugurated the camp by being the first donor of the day, marking the beginning of a meaningful and compassionate initiative. The donation process then continued with active participation from several enthusiastic donors who came forward to contribute selflessly to this noble cause.



The doctors and staff of the Government General Hospital expertly coordinated the donation process, guiding donors from the initial medical check-up to the completion of their blood donation. Members of ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate and the Miyapadav Unit joined hands with the hospital staff, assisting with registration and ensuring the smooth functioning of the camp.
A total of 64 units of blood were collected, representing the Kasaragod Vicariate. With contributions from various Vicariate units, the Miyapadav Parish, and local communities, the event showcased the unity and generosity of individuals from diverse backgrounds coming together for a noble cause.
The initiative aimed to foster social responsibility and encourage young people to donate blood, ultimately contributing to life-saving efforts. The blood donation camp was a resounding success, demonstrating the youth’s commitment to service and their desire to make a positive difference in society. The event concluded with a group photograph, capturing the spirit of unity, compassion, and dedication that marked the day.
