ICYM Kasaragod Deanery Hosts AGM, Elects 2025-26 Executive Committee & Honours Units at Grand Gathering

Indian Catholic Youth Movement Kasaragod Deanery, in association with the Mariashram unit, organized the Annual General Body Meeting, ICYM Kasaragod Deanery Executive Committee Election for the year 2025-26 and Cup Prashasthi awards for the year 2024-25 on 8th June 2025 at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Mariashrum from 11:30 am to 5:00 pm. Youth from 12 parishes of Kasaragod Deanery came together to this program. Over 150 youths were present during the programme.

The program began with action songs led by Indian Catholic Youth Movement Central Committee Secretary Ms Ashlin D’Souza, President Mr Winston Sequeira, and Joint Secretary Dr Joyston D’Souza. This was followed by a fun game conducted by ICYM President Mr. Melwyn D’Souza, along with Mr. Winston Sequeira.

Subsequently, the election for the year 2025–26 was conducted. Mr. Winston Sequeira, President of ICYM Mangalore Diocese, oversaw the election and explained the rules and regulations. Kasaragod Deanery Director Rev. Fr Vishal Monis, Animator Sr. Severine D’Cunha, along with Ms. Ashlin D’Souza and Dr. Joyston D’Souza, were also present during the process.

After the election process, Mr. Melwyn D’Souza, along with the executive committee, led fun games followed by a delicious lunch prepared by the ICYM Mariashram Unit.

 

The new office bearers for the year 2025-26 are as follows:

  2. Animator—Sr. Severine D’Cunha, Vorkady.
  3. President—Ronald Chethan Amin, Kasaragod.
  4. Secretary—Lanson Sharon Dsouza, Mariashram.
  5. Vice President—Prinson Ranjith Monteiro, Vorkady.
  6. Lady Vice President—Prewel Sandra D’Souza, Narampady. 
  7. Joint Secretary—Vinitha Smitha Crasta, Bela.
  8. Treasurer—Stallon D’Souza, Manjeshwar.
  9. Amcho Yuvak Rep/P. R. O. (Nominated)—Ms. Neema D’Silva, Manjeshwar.
  10. Red Drop Rep—Clanson D’Souza, Miyapadavu. 
  11. Sports Secretary—Oswin Crasta, Permude.
  12. Cultural Secretary—Ancila D’Souza, Kollangana. 
  13. Cup Prashasthi—Anvith Jason D’Souza, Ukkinadka.
  14. Immediate Past President—Melwyn D’Souza, Kayyar.

Post-lunch, the committee energized the crowd with action songs and activities. Rev. Fr Vishal Monis, Director of ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate, addressed the youth on the rising trend of migration and encouraged entrepreneurship.

The concluding ceremony, presided over by Mr Lanson D’Souza (Vice President, ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate), Program began with a prayer song. Ms Ashel Vinisha Monteiro extended a warm welcome to dignitaries, including Kasaragod Deanery Vicar Vara Rev. Fr Stany Pereira, ICYM Mangalore Central Council Director Rev. Fr Ashwin Cardoza, Chief Guest for the day Mr. Denis D’Silva, Mangalore a Young Entrepreneur, ICYM Kasaragod Deanery Director Rev. Fr Vishal Monis, ICYM Mariashram Unit Director Rev. Fr Gregory Periera, ICYM Kasaragod Deanery Animator Sr Severine D’Cunha, Mariashram Parish Council Vice President and Secretary Mrs Leena D’Costa and Mrs Beena D’Souza, ICYM Mariashram unit Animator Mr Francis D’Souza and Mrs Molly D’Souza, ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate President Mr Melwyn D’Souza and Secretary Neema D’Silva, ICYM Mariashram Unit President Ms Joswita D’Souza and Secretary Ms Sanjana D’Souza, were in attendance at the event.

Former Secretary Ms. Neema D’Silva presented the annual report, and Joint Secretary Ms. Vinitha shared the yearly accounts. Newly elected members received badges from Rev. Fr. Vishal Monis, symbolizing the handover of responsibilities.

Inspiring messages were delivered by Rev. Fr. Stany Pereira, Mr. Denis D’Silva, and Rev. Fr. Ashwin Cardoza, who was also felicitated for his appointment as Karnataka Regional Youth Commission Secretary. Mr. Melwyn D’Souza reflected on his journey, while newly elected President Ronald Chethan shared his gratitude.

 

On this day, the official website of ICYM Kasargod Vicariate, designed and developed by Joel Crasta from Kumbla, was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Stany Pereira.

 

Awards were presented to the winners of various competitions. All 14 units were recognized under the Cup Prashasthith for their contributions, with special awards including:

  9. St Mother Theresa Award—Outstanding Contribution to Social Causes for the Year- 2024-25—ICYM Maniyampara Unit

  11. St Francis Xavier Award—Unique Event of the Year 2024-25—ICYM Kollangana Unit

  13. St John Paul II Award—Most Youth-Engaged Event of the Year 2024-25—ICYM Bela Unit

* 1st Greatest Unit – ICYM Miyapadavu: Organized 72 events and accumulated 711 points.

* 2nd Great Unit—ICYM Kayyar: Organized 60 events and accumulated 681 points.

* 3rd Best Unit – ICYM Narampady—Organized 53 Events and Accumulated 635 Points.

 

Ms. Jasmitha delivered the vote of thanks. The event concluded with the ICYM anthem, marking a memorable end to the day.
