The ICYM Vorkady unit, in collaboration with the Commission for Social Communication, successfully organized an AI workshop for Vorkady parishioners on August 17, 2025. The event was held from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, with nearly 60+ members participating and gaining valuable knowledge on AI.

 

Theme: The workshop was themed “AI for Professional Excellence,” focusing on empowering participants with essential AI skills.

 

Resource Person: Very Rev. Fr. Anil Ivan Fernandes, a certified AI professional, Director Canara Communication Centre Mangalore, conducted the workshop, providing insights into various AI tools, their operation, consequences, benefits, and future prospects.

 

Event Management: Mr. Robin D Souza member of Commission for Social Communication emceed the event, while Ms. Ashwitha Veigas, ICYM Vorkady unit Vice President, welcomed the gathering. Fr. Basil Vas the parish priest, addressed the participants, and Ms. Sunitha D Souza from the Commission for Social Communication proposed the vote of thanks.

 

The workshop aimed to equip young minds with essential AI skills, enabling them to integrate AI into their education, career, and daily lives. This initiative aligns with ICYM’s mission to empower youth with digital literacy skills, positioning them for success in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. 

 

By participating in this workshop, parishioners gained hands-on experience with AI-powered tools, automation platforms, and creative applications. This exposure will likely enhance their professional prospects and contribute to the unit’s goal of fostering holistic growth among its members.
