A Walk of Sacrifice, Prayer, and Unity – Cross Walk 2026

The ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate, in collaboration with the CKYM Kayyar Unit, organized a Way of the Cross titled “Cross Walk: A Journey of Faith ” on March 8, 2026 at Kokkechal, Kayyar. Around 200 faithful gathered for the spiritual journey, among whom 70 youth actively participated. The Cross Walk began at 3:30 PM, creating a solemn atmosphere of prayer, reflection, and unity.

The gathering was warmly welcomed by CKYM Kayyar Unit and ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate Director, Rev. Fr Vishal Monis. The Journey of Faith commenced with the youth carrying the Cross, symbolizing the hardships and suffering Jesus endured during His final walk to Calvary.

The prayers for the 14 Stations of the Cross were thoughtfully prepared and distributed among the 14 ICYM units of the Kasaragod Vicariate. At each station, one unit led the prayer while offering prayers for another unit, beautifully highlighting the spirit of fraternity and mutual support among the youth. This meaningful initiative strengthened the bond between the units, as every team prayed for the intentions and wellbeing of another. In addition, the responsible unit carried the Cross from one station to the next, reflecting their shared responsibility and participation in the journey of faith.

At every station, members of the responsible unit proclaimed passages from the Holy Bible, followed by meditative reflections and prayers. At the end of each station, Rev. Fr Vishal Monis led prayers for various intentions, while the youth choir of CKYM Kayyar enriched the spiritual atmosphere with their devotional hymns. After completing all 14 Stations of the Cross Sr Severine Animator of ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate, led the final prayers and Rev. Fr Vishal Monis blessed the gathering, marking the conclusion of the solemn Way of the Cross.

Following the devotion, Mr Austin D’Souza Secretary of CKYM Kayyar Unit, expressed his gratitude to all the faithful for participating in the Cross Walk. Subsequently, Ms Vinitha Crasta, Joint Secretary of ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate, delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of the Vicariate. She sincerely appreciated the dedicated efforts of the youth of CKYM Kayyar Unit who worked tirelessly to organize the event in such a prayerful and meaningful manner.

As a token of appreciation, Sr Severine D Cunha, on behalf of ICYM Kasaragod Vicariate, presented a memento to the CKYM Kayyar Unit in recognition of their efforts in organizing the spiritual gathering.

Refreshments were later served to all those present by the CKYC Kayyar Youth.

The “Cross Walk: A Journey of Faith” became a deeply spiritual and meaningful experience for all the participants. The unique initiative of each ICYM unit praying for another unit beautifully reflected the spirit of unity, fraternity, and collective faith among the youth of the Kasaragod Vicariate. The event not only helped the faithful reflect on the passion and sacrifice of Jesus Christ but also strengthened the bonds of prayer and fellowship within the ICYM community.
